Overland Park Farmers Market – Overland Park, KS

The newly redeveloped Overland Park Farmers Market brings a fresh look to one of the community’s most beloved destinations. Located in the heart of Downtown Overland Park, the revitalized space features a new year-round market pavilion, expanded gathering areas, improved accessibility, additional amenities for vendors and visitors, and a flexible event space designed to serve the community beyond market days. The project enhances the market experience while creating a welcoming destination for residents, local businesses, and visitors to connect and enjoy for years to come.

As visitors arrive at the Overland Park Farmers Market, they are welcomed by Landscape Forms Motive Path Lights lining the entrance walkway and Cooper Lighting Solutions LuxScape Post Top luminaires illuminating the site. The market building itself is accented with Ecosense Rise, while Pilot Cove luminaires from Insight Lighting provide the vibrant blue glow throughout the structure. Further into the space, the staircase leading to Clock Tower Landing is highlighted by Kelvix tape lighting, guiding visitors into the heart of the market.

At the top of the stairs, the iconic clock tower serves as a centerpiece of the market. Acclaim Dyna Accent Color fixtures highlight its architectural presence, while iGuzzini Trick fixtures introduce visual depth and definition within the tower, enhancing its appearance after dark. Overhead, Structura’s catenary lighting system enhances the plaza’s atmosphere with dynamic color and visual impact, helping to transform the market into a welcoming gathering place day and night. Also contributing to the project’s cohesive lighting design are solutions from Brownlee, Experience Brands, KW, Myers Emergency & Power Systems, Selux, Spectrum Lighting, Vista Pro, and Vode. ETC’s Paradigm and Pharos control systems bring the entire lighting installation together, providing flexible control and dynamic lighting capabilities throughout the market and gathering spaces.

Lighting That Leaves a Lasting Impression

Q&A with Jamie McLosky, Regional Sales Manager at Fluxwerx

How did you get started in the lighting industry, and what led you to Fluxwerx?

Lighting shapes how we experience every space we walk into — and that’s what pulled me in. Coming from the construction world, lighting felt like a natural next step. It’s one of the few elements that can completely change not just how a space looks, but how people feel and function within it.

What drew me to Fluxwerx specifically was the people and the mindset. There’s a real commitment to pushing boundaries—whether it’s optical performance, design, or sustainability. Being part of a team that’s constantly asking “what else is possible?” is energizing. Every day we get to help create spaces that feel better, work better, and inspire people, and that’s a pretty great thing to be part of.

What recent or upcoming product launches are you most excited about?

I’m really excited about our new Speak family. With 31 different form factors across recessed, surface, and pendant options, it gives designers a ton of flexibility and sets the stage for future innovation.

The Speak Recessed Adjustable is a standout — it lets designers put light exactly where they want it while keeping a consistent look across the Speak family and the broader Fluxwerx portfolio. And personally, I love the Compact Speak Pendant with the Radius end detail. It’s simple, elegant, and strikes a great balance between performance and design.

From a marketing perspective, how do you communicate the value and impact of lighting to designers and end users?

We don’t start by talking about fixtures — we start by talking about the experience of the space. Designers aren’t just choosing luminaires; they’re shaping how people see, feel, work, and connect.

Our job is to show how lighting becomes part of the architecture, not an add-on. We lean heavily on real project stories, design guides, and education that translate technical optical performance into real-world benefits: better uniformity, less glare, wider spacing, lower energy use, and cleaner integration.

At the end of the day, great lighting often goes unnoticed — and that’s the point. When a space feels effortless and comfortable, that’s when lighting is doing its best work.

If there’s one thing you want people to know about Fluxwerx, what would it be?

Everything we do starts with the belief that light connects people and architecture.

We’re intentional about every decision — from optics to design philosophy — and we’re always pushing ourselves to explore new ideas rather than accept the status quo. That philosophy has shaped a diverse portfolio recognized with more than 50 design awards, but more importantly, it shapes how people experience the spaces they move through every day.

We don’t just manufacture luminaires. We create lighting that quietly elevates architecture and leaves a lasting impression long after someone leaves the room.

Why TM-30 Matters

Ever bought a light fixture that claimed an 80+ CRI rating, only to find colors still looked a little… off? You’re not alone.

For years, CRI was the lighting industry’s go-to color metric, but it only evaluates 8 color samples. TM-30 takes things much further, analyzing 99 real-world colors and showing not just how accurate colors appear, but also whether they look more vivid, muted, or shifted in hue.

Think of CRI as checking a light source’s report card. TM-30 is more like watching the game film—it tells the whole story. By measuring color fidelity (Rf) and color gamut (Rg), TM-30 helps designers and specifiers better predict how people, products, finishes, and spaces will actually look under a light source.

The takeaway? When it comes to color quality, one number isn’t enough anymore. TM-30 gives us a clearer picture—literally.
